Whimsical Wednesday

I bought a couple more nail varnishes today from boots.

Orange Soda and Sherbert Lemon

The reason this is important is because I reacquainted myself with Gem's nail tutorial and it's been an age since I last did any nail art, so I thought I'd give it a go...

That was until I got half way through and couldn't find my liquid eyeliner. I stopped using it some time ago but I was sure it still held residence in my make up box somewhere. I ended up using block printing ink because I couldn't even find any black acrylic and I was so desperate to try this out! However, this was a bad idea because ink gets sticky and takes a while to dry, otherwise it's watery and doesn't cover the varnish properly. It was difficult for me to get a good consistency without it taking an age to dry and getting sumdged in the process. But Hurrah! It worked eventually ;)

It came out a lot worse than other people's attempts, but I blame that on the fact I couldn't find my flippin liquid eyeliner. Still, it was fun and for my first attempt, it's not bad, the effect is striking and pretty, even if it doesn't quite look like leopard print.

My right middle and ring finger got a little smudged, but I was so peed off
by then I thought 'screw it, it's not that bad' and sealed the beasts with top coat.

It took me a really long time to pick which colours to use and I love the fact that you can really go to town with this. With any nail art in fact. I believe that your nails don't have to match your outfit and that your make up shouldn't (I've made hideous mistakes accidentally matching eye make up and clothes, oops!). I often end up with nails that clash with an outfit, but I like the look... I also quite enjoy clashing colours in an outfit too, but more on that another day ;)

This isn't the best picture in the world but I had to inlclude it because it took some
artful skills involving self timer, a daylight lamp and holding the camera between
my chin and my chest like a super spaz. I'll leave you with that image :)

Well, the horrid day came. I took my bf to Victoria station so he could get the train to the airport and I don't know when I'll next see him :'(

I had to cheer myself up and I nearly bought the softest pj's/lounging clothes ever from Primark, but I resisted. I did however buy some new nail varnish, which I've been wanting to do for a while.

I quickly tried them out over my chipped red nails and the pictures weren't any better than the rushed job I did, so maybe I'll show you better pictures when I've taken the time to paint my nails nicely.

I also bought some postcards from paperchase to send to my beloved when he gets a more permanent address. It's going to be poo without him. I'm going to fill my time with learning and planning and lists. Yes, lists sound like a good way to keep busy, I'm going to get started!
