Life is busy. And cold!

I have been mostly absent from the internet world for such a long time now I've forgotten what I've actually been doing instead of updating here.

  • I can tell you that I've have a blasted cough for nearly three months now, but only just got a doctor, so am planning on getting checked out soon... ish. Oh and I've had two icky viral/bacterial infections in the past month alone. BOO!
  • I can also tell you that I've had a string of really late nights, mostly because of parent and staff meetings at work. This inevitably led to a 12.5 hour marathon of sleep on Friday night, which also led to a FANTASTICALLY great mood yesterday and found me ironing for several hours while singing and dancing along to my iPod.
  • Our floor shall be finished TODAY and when it's done I will show you pictures as promised ;)
  • I've been walking to and from all train stations since my poor bike was stolen back at the beginning of the month. This seems to have helped in the weightloss department and I'm now more than half way to my goal (42lbs down people :D )
  • My beloved mother is coming to visit for the few days I have off work, from Friday until the following wednesday, which is my birthday.
  • I'm not looking forward to being 26.
  • It's started to snow. This is ok from the point of view that I bought a cheap, yet functional waterproof winter coat on wednesday, but not ok from the point of view that it's already started to screw with the trains :(
When you combine my busy DIY weekend schedule, my constant illness, my lack of sleep, the extended working hours and overall cold and tiredness, I'm hoping you can understand and forgive my general lack of presence and activity both here and in letter form.

We're hoping to get most of our 'flat stuff' finished today, which should be a welcomed load off my shoulders and will hopefully induce better and longer sleep, so I can get more done on my commute :)

I'm SO looking forward to my 5 days off work, you have no idea ;)

I hope you're enjoying a great weekend my lovelies! xx

Progress/sleeping badly

This is me hiding behind my second coffee of the morning and all I want to do is go back to sleep. I slept really badly last night, it was humid, too warm, I was scared of mosquitoes, so tried desperately to stay covered, which added to my warmth and I couldn't get comfortable all night.

Why did I sleep so badly? Because we spent the previous night at the new flat, or the new sound as we like to call it (Mighty Boosh anyone?).

Our first night in the new flat was great, we bought a bigger table for our kitchen because the small breakfast table we used in brighton was perfect for that long, narrow kitchen, but in the new flat, it just created a huge wasted space in the middle of the room. So we got a 4 person table and it fits perfectly, it uses the space well, it is bigger which is always a plus for what I think of as Italian dining, i.e. put everything on the table and help yourself, as opposed to English dining where everything is served onto plates in the kitchen and the plates are brought to the table, and yeah, it looks good.

Seeing as our electricity is still not connected, the bf bought a selection of cold goods from the supermercato, ham, crackers, insalata Russa, fritatta, focaccia and we had ourselves a little feast.

complete with screwdriver from making the table.

The light is poor because as the sun set, we kicked ourselves for not picking up some candles, but it added to the romantic nature of our first night there.

We finally slept in a real bed. Not just any bed, but a bed with a HUGE matress, bigger than our old one, which is firm and soft at the same time. I slept like a baby and enjoyed a nap after the bf had gone to work in the morning. Bliss. This is why I slept so badly in Cameri last night. The crappy mattress, the poor, unsupportive bedframe, yuk, it's done me no favours :(

Our order from UniEuro was delivered yesterday, so we now have a dishwasher, cooker, fridge and washing machine (courtesy of the bf's Dad, Mr.C), but still no gas or electricity :\ I jigged our kitchen around a little bit and I can't wait for the worktops to be fitted this weekend. It's finally starting to look like a home. Well, the kitchen is at least ;)

busy busy bumble bee!

I've been really busy this week. I got back to Lyon really late on Sunday night and I've been tired out ever since. I guess the 10+ hours of walking on the weekend didn't really help.

Luckily we have sun in France and the temperature is rising everyday, so it helps to take the edge off the waves of tiredness. Here's what I've been up to...

  • Did something dodgy to my wrist on Sunday so I'm wearing a bandage to school but have to keep taking it off because it hurts more when I wear it?
  • Spraying with TWO mosquito repellents and killing any of the bastards I can find in the room.
  • Getting up before 7am AND managing to eat breakfast everyday :D
  • Making and wearing a FANTASTIC superhero costume for the activity day at school (which was today)
  • Getting a little sunburned because said activity day was outdoors and I didn't realise the strength of the sun :(
  • Painting Kingergarten faces
  • Writing letters (3 down, 2 to go)
I'm back to Italy this weekend, I had plans, but now the plans have changed, so it will likely be a lazy week of bike riding, reading and letter writing. Maybe with some baking thrown into the mix. Oh and we'll probably end up in Milan next weekend.

I've also been looking into various schooling methods and trying to figure out exactly what I want to do with my life. All this is terribly exhausting and as a consequence I can't remember any of my dreams... this makes me a little sad and I long for some restful days so I can wake up with the strange, yet fabulous memories of my subconscious play time.

I hope you're all doing well and looking forward to the weekend :D

p.s. I may be getting a hair cut, exciting times guys!
